Description: ***Please note, if you have previously attended a CCLS Foundational Fridays or Phonics as a Road Map to Comprehension Workshop, do NOT attend this workshop***.This two day, packaged, professional series will address a combination of critical components of reading foundational skills.The series addresses the components of developmental reading instruction ranging from pre-reading behaviors and phonological awareness to phonics and fluency. Participants will learn to increase student engagement with print in the classroom using multisensory techniques and a variety ofresearch basedroutines and activities. Participants will have opportunities throughout the series to employ avariety of practical, explicit word solving strategiesin orderforstudents tobuild a strong foundation to become independent, lifelong readers. Teachers will also learn strategies to assist students in application of letter-sound correspondencesto read words both in isolation and connected text. Additionally, participants will learn how to build a review and repetition cycle of phonics skills that lead to student mastery rather than just exposure to skills.
