D75-21-223: AAC Implementation for Teams
Speech, Speech, Speech 2021/2022
Description: This two-hour PD is for classroom teams (teacher, speech therapist, paraprofessional, etc.).
It will focus on engaging students using AAC communication devices/systems during classroom lessons. Teams will be shown how to differentiate instruction based on students' language levels. Specific implementation strategies, such as use of routines, prepared communication opportunities and peer-to-peer communication, will be presented. Teams will learn no- tech strategies as well as No-Tech picture/object exchange strategies can be part of a powerful communication program, often used with children on the autism spectrum. Speech therapists may attend without a classroom teacher. This workshop will offer ASHA CEU's. (Please note: PD is virtual. The link to join will be emailed approximately 24 hours prior to PD date.)
