D75-19-4016: Introduction to EASE (Level 1 & 2) - Year 1 Training
Arts, Literacy, Mathematics (STEM) 2019/2020

Description: Become certified in EASE! Teachers in D75 have the opportunity to attend a two-year, 7 session, training program to become certified in EASE. Everyday Arts for Special Education (EASE) promotes arts integration, giving teachers multiple ways to introduce arts based strategies into core content areas and discipline specific arts content. This program was designed to strengthen student academic and behavioral IEP goals through social emotional learning, culturally responsive pedagogy, and inclusive and differentiated instruction. EASE provides educators with research-based curriculum, strategies, and professional development workshops to support their instructional practices for students with diverse learning and behavioral needs. This year one, hands-on workshop series (4 sessions) will cover the core EASE activities and approach including ways of integrating the arts into all areas of the curriculum for students of all ages and abilities. This is the beginning of a two-year program, that will culminate in a certification for this methodology. Teachers must attend all trainings, both year one and two, to receive the certification. If you have previously attended EASE Level I workshops, this workshop series will introduce the academic integration version of many core activities with some re-introduction to the basics. Teachers will not only receive hands-on PD, they will also be given access to an online inventory of structured EASE activities that promote peer to peer communication, transitions in the classroom, and student engagement through kinesthetic activities.
