Description: Early experiences have profound effects on development and learning. Designed for Pre-K-Grade 2 teachers in alignment with the Instructional Principles, this interactive workshop will lay the groundwork for the foundations for creating a student-centered early childhood classroom that fosters curiosity and 21st Century learning. We will discuss the cornerstones for developmentally appropriate practice and address the adult role in creating a safe, welcoming culturally responsive classroom. Discover how to utilize play-based learning and design lessons that optimize your students’ cognitive, social, emotional and physical strengths and development. Fill your early childhood toolbox with practical strategies and resources, such as the Revised NYS Early Learning Guidelines to scaffold learning for all levels of learners. Advanced Literacies with an emphasis on the Hallmarks of Instruction will be embedded throughout this workshop
