Description: Therapeutic Crisis Intervention for Schools (TCIS) is a 4-day In-person certification training. This program provides organizations with a framework for implementing effective crisis prevention and intervention systems that reduce reliance on high-risk interventions, address crisis events and students’ social-emotional needs, and promote positive learning outcomes through relationship-based practices. Participants learn skills that help them support students in developing more effective coping strategies, replacing maladaptive behaviors, and building social-emotional competence. Day 4 of TCIS will cover important safety concerns when working with students with challenging behaviors. This course is RECOMMENDED for all members of a school's staff including Assistant Principals, Deans, Crisis Intervention Teachers, Teachers, Clinicians, Paraprofessionals and District 75 SETSS Providers. It is most effective when used consistently by all staff. Annual refresher opportunities are strongly recommended for participants who successfully complete the training (e.g., TCIS-Complex Needs and Neurodiversity, TCI-Post Crisis Response, and TCI-Conflict Resolution). Course Requirements: Participants must attend all 4 days and successfully complete the written and practical exams to show they have met competent standards in using the TCIS techniques. Additionally, the skills discussed in this training are aligned with Danielson’s Framework for Teaching: 1b -Demonstrating Knowledge of Students; 2b - Establishing a Culture for Learning; 2c - Managing Classroom Procedures; 3a - Communicating with Students; 3b - Using Questioning and Discussion Techniques.
