Social Studies 2018/2019
Description: This one-day course will train teachers in building a solid understanding of the Passport to Social Studies curriculum for grades 3-5. Participants will continue to build upon earlier work around the NYC Social Studies Scope & Sequence to elevate classroom instructional practice. Teachers will explore the units and analyze the sequence of lessons to optimize their implementation of Social Studies content. They will identify opportunities throughout the day to employ a variety of strategies for students to build on content knowledge, concept understanding, and skills. Participants will receive a one-day course completion certificate from the District 75 Office of Literacy and Social Studies. This workshop is CTLE approved and is open to administrators, teachers, paraprofessionals, related service providers and SETSS providers.
