D75-19-4021: Essential Skills for Increasing Safety and Independence
Travel Training 2019/2020

Description: Being able to participate in the world around us requires the ability to make safe decisions. Opportunities to gain information through our interactions with the environment help to develop the foundations for safety leading to increased independence. The Office of Travel Training created a guide Bridging the Gap between SANDI and the Essential Skills for Increasing Safety and Independence (ISI). It was developed to help teachers align their current instruction and assessment practices for their students in the classroom. All students regardless of age and disability have the right to develop the skills necessary to “Increase Safety and Independence.” It is the first step towards the enjoyment of what life has to offer.
