D75-18-528: Early Childhood Instruction 101 : Nuts and Bolts
Early Childhood 2018/2019

Description: Get ready to enliven your early childhood classroom environment through this interactive workshop! This 1 day course explores various aspects of early childhood instruction through practical, hands-on strategies. We will examine Piagets Stages of Development in order to determine individual student need, and plan appropriately effective learning opportunities for all of your learners. Strategies that support student behavior through procedures and routines while navigating curricula materials will be provided. You will learn to scaffold information for all levels of learners, addressing all the domains of the New York State Early Learning Guidelines. Purposeful and explicit teaching across all content areas will be focused upon as we explore the importance of designing learning opportunities for early learners across all the domains of development. Participants will be given the tools to plan lessons that build upon students current knowledge and at the same time stretch their thinking to extend what they know about themselves, relating to others and the world around them. Questioning and discussion techniques will be an embedded focus throughout this workshop. Participants will be expected to complete assignments, and show ongoing classroom evidence of district professional development content.
