Description: This one-day professional learning session addresses the Science of Reading as it relates to Phonemic Awareness and Phonics. Participants will learn strategies to assist students in application of letter-sound correspondences to read words both in isolation and connected text. Additionally, participants will learn how to build a review and repetition cycle of phonics skills that lead to student mastery rather than just exposure to skills.
We will make connections between theory and practice with a focus on explicit and systematic instruction by examining how core curricula utilized in District 75 align with the Science of Reading across tiers of instruction.
