Description: This presentation defines trauma, and what trauma looks like in school age children and adolescents and its impact on the special education population. Trauma is examined through the lens of the current epidemics of COVID-19 and social injustice. Evidence based strategies and best practices for educators and counselors are discussed, as well as building a toolbox for student and staff self-care. The significance of resilience mindfulness in trauma focused work are also discussed.
