D75-24-176: A Hands-on Approach for Implementing a School-Based Feeding Program
Feeding 2024/2025

Description: This 2-DAY project based professional development will adapt a Professional Learning Community (PLC) model. A small group of therapists will work closely with the District 75 Feeding Team to learn hands-on, the step-by-step process of setting up and implementing a feeding program in their school. Participants will work as a team to build their program from start to finish which will include setting up their team to incluse conducting parent interviews, and identifying, observing, and evaluating students with feeding issues. Based on findings, participants will write IEP goals and implement learned management/treatment strategies. REQUIREMENT: Participants will document their experiences and prepare a video and/or power point presentation to exchange ideas and to learn/enhance best practices for school-based feeding programs. Prerequisites:
-Must have attended previous Feeding PDs within last 5 years
-Have 2 or more students on your caseload or in your program that have been identified as having feeding issues
-Have an interest in learning how to set up a feeding program in your school
-Be able to attend both days with at least one other therapist or teacher from your school
