D75-19-446: Introduction to ENL Methodologies (suffices at Jose P. Training, Part 1)
English Language Learners 2019/2020
Description: Participants will learn about some of the legal cases which became the means to providing students with disabilities from other-than-English language backgrounds with equal access to learning. Theories of language acquisition will be explored, and ENL methodologies used to support learners in the process of acquiring language/communication skills will be demonstrated. Participants will have the opportunity to practice the strategies used to facilitate communication for ELLs/MLLs with disabilities. CTLE credit will be given for participation in the session. The session hours earned will count toward administrators’ and related service providers’ 15% and ENL and Bilingual teachers’ 50% professional learning requirement on ELL/MLL topics as per Commissioner’s Regulations (CR) Part 154.
