D75-19-154: Ready Player One: Digital Game-Based Learning
Assessment & Accountability, Instructional Technology (STEM), Mathematics (STEM) 2019/2020

Description: Studies show that game-based learning is amongst the most powerful and engaging ways to help students retain what they learn. Making it digital makes it even easier to assess that learning. We'll guide participants to a deep understanding of the educational theory of game-based learning. We'll explore playing digital learning games like BrainPOP's Game-Up, Prodigy, iCivics and more. We'll use online, iPad, and SMART Notebook tools to create our own digital games to bring back to your school. We'll explain how to 'gamify' your entire classroom with platforms like Classcraft or Rezzly. Time for planning and addressing current digital GBL challenges will be provided. A certificate will be issued upon completion of the course. CTLE credit is available. This addresses ISTE Educator Standards 1, 4, 5, 6, and 7.
