D75-21-279: Using the Power of Sketch to support Social Emotional Learning
Arts 2021/2022
Description: Sketching enhances creativity, strengthens focus and strategic thinking, develops communication skills and supports coordination and fine motor growth. Sketching also gives time to reflect and express ones own thoughts and ideas. Through this PD we will learn how sketching can be combined with daily prompts to focus on identification of self, identification of emotions, and student reflection. We will also incorporate arts based discussion strategies to increase communication and student conversations/interactions with peers. This PD is for Classroom teachers. Teachers will receive a class set of materials and daily sketching prompts to run a 12 week program with students. This PD is in partnership with MOMA, who is generously donating materials!
