D75-18-401: TICKET TO RIDE (UDL, finding solutions for learning obstacles, improving Instructional access)
Instructional Technology (STEM) 2018/2019

Description: This PD is focused on improving strategies for INSTRUCTIONAL ACCESS. This is for TEACHERS who want to improve access to the curriculum for students that have learning obstacles. By learning strategies to help remove barriers from inflexible learning methods and materials, teachers can empower students to be more engaged in the learning process. This session will explore solutions that can make a big difference for students struggling with reading and writing. A variety of technologies will be explored with a focus on tools that can be easily obtained or are already a part of operating systems commonly available in school computers and devices. Case studies will be presented and solutions will be highlighted. We will explore research and data that support alternate methods of instuction that use these tools. Participants will be encouraged to discuss the needs of students they work with, and collaboratively we will suggest strategies to implement so teachers leave feeling empowered to support their students more effectively. Having these strategies in place can really be the ticket that the students need to be successful.
