Mathematics (STEM) 2019/2020
Description: Mathematics learning is far more than making bar graphs and identifying coins. It is a rich subject that needs to be taught in cognitively appropriate way. Teachers can struggle with teaching cognitively guided math because they lack knowledge of the different early trajectories of math learning. In this one-day workshop, we will look at how students develop mathematical understanding from birth to early addition and subtraction. We will look a different learning trajectories, such as counting, one-to-one correspondence, and more. The workshop will be designed for out of classroom educators to provide targeted and meaningful feedback to teachers and paraprofessionals.
