D75-19-3965: Student Advocacy Project (Cohort 1 and Cohort 2)
Inclusive Education, Student Advocacy 2019/2020
Description: Schools that have been involved in the Student Advocacy Project over the last two years (2017-18 and/or 2018-19) are invited to continue their professional learning as well as deepen their school-based Student Advocacy Project. To support the process of digging deeper with your students into their selected area of advocacy work and further build awareness and advocacy across school communities, we are offering school-based coaching support for the continued development of Student Ambassadors' Advocacy Projects, and three district-based professional development days for Staff Liaisons to research, build further knowledge, and create lesson plans around the history of Disability Rights to further empower students and grow advocacy work across the school. Participants and their Student Ambassadors will share the outcomes of this continued work at the culminating Student Advocacy Symposium in May.
By registering for this series, you are committing to continuing and deepening your Student Ambassador's work on their Student Advocacy Project in your school, attending three district-based research sessions to deepen instructional modules around disability history, rights, and advocacy, and participating in the culminating Symposium.
Please note: this is ONLY OPEN to Staff Liaison (teachers, coaches, administrators) who have attended Student Advocacy Project trainings during the 2017-18 and/ 2018-19 school year.
