Description: "Teaching students about computer programing, or coding, is a great way to spark an interest in computer science, as well as support skills in all content areas.

The session will review Code.org's exciting and engaging curriculum that allows students to explore the limitless world of technology and computer science. The curriculum focuses on critical thinking, logic, persistence, and creativity to help students develop their problem-solving in all subject areas, no matter what their age.

The curriculum has been designed for all teachers and all technology comfort levels. Participants will learn how to begin teaching basic computer science concepts through online activities and """"unplugged"""" activities. Consisting of three courses, Course 1 for non-readers and Course 2/3 for emerging readers, Code.org’s curriculum aligns to CSTA Computer Science Standards and some lessons also map to national Math, English Language Arts, Science, and ISTE standards. Danielson Framework categories that will be addressed are 1b, 1c, 1d, 1e, 2c, 3a, 3c, 4a, 4d, 4e. A certificate will be issued upon successful completion of the workshop.
