Autism 2022/2023

Description: Please join Dr. Anthony Castriogiovanni from Pyramid PECS USA. This workshop focuses on the teachings of critical communication skills necessary to support the needs of complex communicators that can lead to greater independence in the home, work, school and community settings. Nine specific skills: requesting reinforcers, requesting help, requesting a break, indicating yes and no, waiting, following directions, schedule-following and transitioning will be reviewed. Through lecture, demonstrations, video and participatory activities, you will acquire specific teaching strategies that are relevant for anyone who has limited communication skills, regardless of their communicative modality (e.g., Picture Exchange Communication System [PECS], signing, device use, speech). This workshop is beneficial to school administrators, classroom teachers, paraprofessionals, speech and language pathologists, BCBAs, Social Workers, School Psychologists, and other individuals supporting students with complex communication needs. Registration is on a first come first serve basis. Administrative approval is required. If the workshop is filled and a seat becomes available we will reach out to you to see if you are able to attend the workshop.
