Description: This one-day professional learning session addresses the Science of Reading as it relates to vocabulary. The focus of this workshop is to guide educators to gain knowledge of practical strategies and tools for increasing language comprehension with their students. Educators will learn the importance of vocabulary instruction for our students. As one of the five core components of reading instruction, vocabulary is essential in helping teach students how to read. Methods for teaching vocabulary will be centered around what students should know and be able to do. Educators will enhance their pedagogy to support all learners by engaging in multisensory activities to meet instructional outcomes. Participants will also learn explicit vocabulary strategies to help students build content knowledge.
